An image of the invisible, made with a medium designed to reveal.

An angel is something traditionally imagined rather than observed. Medical imaging was created for the opposite purpose: to reveal what exists beneath a visible surface.

ANGEL brings those ideas together, giving an impossible subject the visual authority of examination. Wings and figure are reduced to pale structure against a dense field, somewhere between icon, specimen and evidence.

Produced on authentic medical imaging film, the image changes subtly with transmitted and reflected light.
