EXPOSED AUTUMN — DRIED SUNFLOWER

Beauty after the bloom.

A sunflower is usually pictured at its brightest moment. DRIED SUNFLOWER begins after that moment has passed, when colour and softness give way to exposed structure.

The dried head, stem and remaining geometry become more sculptural when translated into the visual language of medical imaging. Instead of decay, the image reveals repetition, density and form.

Produced on authentic medical imaging film, the monochrome work changes with surrounding light and offers an autumn subject without conventional autumn colour.
